On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, Blue Cares hosted its annual Patricia Calderon Scholarship Awards Ceremony at The Barn Door. They proudly awarded $47,500 in scholarships to 12 San Antonio high school students.
The scholarship program was named in memory of Officer Patricia Calderon, the first female San Antonio Police Department officer killed in the line of duty in 1988. The scholarship honors her legacy and the ultimate sacrifices made by SAPD officers. Through this program, Blue Cares ensures that their memories live on—empowering the next generation through educational opportunities.
Since its debut in 2015, the program has awarded $227,500 in scholarships, helping students pursue higher education and build brighter futures. The recipients come from a range of local high schools, including:
To continue supporting this impactful program, the community was invited to participate in the Blue Cares Sporting Clay Shoot held on June 29, 2024. Proceeds from the event directly benefit future Patricia Calderon Scholarship recipients.
